Here at Woodfield we pride ourselves on being a research-driven, forward-thinking school; maximising learning impact is at the heart of everything we strive to achieve. Across all three sites at Woodfield lessons will be meticulously planned to meet our students needs to enable them to succeed in every lesson and progress throughout each academic year.
We encourage our students to engage wholeheartedly in the ‘process’ and ‘journey’ of their learning. Students are taught the skills of metacognition, analysing and evaluating their own progress, and engaging with feedback to help them continue to move forward.
All staff participate in on-going teacher development which focuses on the use of ‘Rosenshine Principles of Instruction’ to supports students with deeper understanding and knowledge retention. These can be broken down into 10 steps and will be regularly seen to support learning across all key stages:
We subscribe to the belief that, first and foremost, no education system can be better than the quality of its teachers. We therefore take the development of our teachers incredibly seriously, and have a coaching ethos that drives the success of our Continuing Professional Development programmes.
All staff are supported at every stage of their development. It is our mission and ambition that, as a direct result of the outstanding teaching and learning culture at Woodfield School, every person, student and staff alike, makes excellent progress regardless of their starting point.
